Vacancy: Golf Course Superintendent

A friend forwarded an email to me about a vacancy in Brunei. I have reproduced it verbatim below. Feel free to share it with friends. The picture is, of course, only as illustration. I mean – imagine how boring this post would be without a picture. But to those who don’t know how early a CS would have to start work; it is earlier than the sun…

“Dear Mohd Rom Muslim,
Since you are the President of GCMAM and also on the committee of MGA, I would like to get your favor to announce that I am looking to engage a Malaysian as our Golf Course Superintendent and the criteria as follows:
1. A Malaysian (minimum age 40 years old)
2. Experience at least 15 years
3. Able to communicate/write in English/Malay
4. Able to write/proposed/budget/plan programmed works
5. Qualification – minimum Diploma in Agronomy
Remuneration:
1. Salary (negotiable)
2. House & transport (provided)
3. 2 years contract (renewable)
4. Other allowances (negotiable)
5. After contract packages (provided)
RBA Golf Course features as follows:
1. Greens – Bermuda tifdwarf
2. Fairways – Bermuda 419
3. Roughs – Mixture of different grass (will be replaced to a proper grass in the future)
4. Machinery – Full fleet of machinery (8 months old)
5. We have qualified Head Mechanic & mechanics to look after the machinery
6. We have qualified Supervisor (15 years experience of maintenance crews scheduling works and irrigation experience)
7. We have qualified Machine Operators & crews.
8. Source of Irrigation is from the various man-made lakes on the golf course
Other information:
1. General Manager is the overall control of the Golf Club Management (report to Board of Directors)
2. Golf Course Superintendent will report direct to GM on Golf Course Maintenance
3. He will have overall control on his crews
4. Basically he will be acting as Golf Course Superintendent role
